The Gateway To The West Is Missouri
Missouri is one of those states that many people overlook as a vacation destination. By overlooking this state they are robbing themselves of some of the best America has to offer. With a Missouri timeshare, you can experience a wide range of things from great nightlife opportunities to historical sites that helped shaped the nation and the pioneers who settled the west. Two cities, St. Louis and Kansas City should not be missed if you are looking for someplace unique to see on vacation.
The city of St. Louis was settled in 1764 as a French trading post. It sits at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers and has long been a major port for boats traveling both rivers as well as pioneers on wagon trains heading west. The city is still one of the largest inland ports in the United States and it is a mixture of modern and historic centers. There are still many reminders of the frontier days with the most evident being the steel Gateway Arch that is the citys most well known landmark.
The city itself is a mixture of American and European influences and you can easily hear jazz or blues playing from the many clubs that line the river. Paddle steamers still dock at the warehouse district offering visitors tours of the area. The city also has distinctive neighborhoods where you can enjoy everything from a trendy quarter with chic shops to a French quarter with its wonderful produce markets that are open on Saturdays.
Kansas City straddles the Missouri River and the state line that divides Missouri from Kansas. It was another city built to help launch the wagon trains of the 1800s and it grew up around the railroads as they were being built to join the east and west. After World War I, Kansas City became the American focal point of jazz music and today you will find many historical sites such as the Jesse James Bank Museum as well as family attractions like the Worlds of Fun theme park.
