US Virgin Islands
If you are planning a trip to the Caribbean the US Virgin Islands is one of the most popular destinations to visit, especially if you opt to invest in a US Virgin Islands timeshare rental. This string of islands was first inhabited by Arawak and Carib Indians who eventually melded with the European settlers who came to the islands during the 1490s. The islands were for quite some time part of the Danish West Indies until they became an incorporated region of the United States after the nation purchased the islands in 1917. Today the islands are self-governed in cooperation with the United States and offer visitors a Caribbean retreat filled with sandy beaches and warm waters.

There are many historical attractions in and around Christiansted including the Old Custom House and Art Gallery, the wharf area, the Cruz Rum Distillery and Whim Greathouse, an old plantation house where visitors can learn what life was like during the 18th century. The Buck Island Underwater National Park is off the coast from Christiansted and there is a fantastic and exotic underwater marine garden here perfect for divers.
St. Thomas, the second largest island and the most cosmopolitan of the three, also shows the influence the earlier Danish settlers had on it.
